Sustainability at MNE 2025
We are committed to hosting a sustainable and environmentally responsible conference. In line with the National Oceanography Centre’s (NOC) ISO14001 accreditation and its dedication to becoming carbon neutral by 2035, we are taking the following measures:
Venue & Resources:
- Utilizing temporary, high-quality conference marquee structures to maximize floor space and minimize energy consumption.
- Prioritizing the use of recyclable and sustainably sourced materials, including paper, plastics, and other conference essentials.
Travel & Catering:
- Collaborating with local public transport providers to promote sustainable travel options for attendees, such as buses and bicycle-sharing schemes.
- Partnering with local food suppliers to minimize our carbon footprint and reduce food waste.
- Providing water filling stations and encouraging the use of reusable bottles to reduce single-use plastic waste.
Waste Management & Technology:
- Implementing responsible waste collection and disposal practices, including recycling and composting where possible.
- Sourcing event lighting and audio-visual equipment from suppliers committed to using the latest energy-efficient technology.
We believe that even small changes can make a big difference. By working together, we can minimize the environmental impact of our conference and contribute to a more sustainable future.
We encourage all attendees to join us in these efforts by:
- Choosing sustainable travel options whenever possible.
- Minimizing waste and utilizing recycling facilities.
- Conserving energy and water throughout the conference.
Let’s make this conference a model for sustainable events!
